The City College of Cagayan de Oro (CCCDO) hosted the LGU Cagayan de Oro Research Focal Points Coordination Meeting on December 13, 2024, at the CCCDO College Library. Led by Prof. Jonathan A. Madroner1o, Vice President of the Urban Nexus Licensing, Intellectual Property, Research, Innovation, and Creative Enterprise (UNLIRICE) Office, the meeting aimed to strengthen collaboration between CCCDO and various LGU departments in addressing shared development goals through research and innovation.
In his opening message, College President Dr. Jestoni P. Babia underscored the role of research-driven social transformation in serving communities. He encouraged departments to produce policy-influencing research aligned with the city’s RISE agenda and to build partnerships that share knowledge and resources. “Research becomes meaningful when it reaches the communities we serve,” Dr. Babia remarked, highlighting the College’s commitment to accessible and impactful research.
The meeting featured discussions on training opportunities, data-sharing strategies, and joint research initiatives that address the city’s priority concerns. Facilitators Prof. Madronero and Dr. Joel D. Potane thanked participants for their active engagement, emphasizing that continued collaboration between CCCDO and LGU offices will drive evidence-based policies and sustainable community development.
